Japan is country of neighborhoods with small commercial streets like this one. At night the electric signs take over and tint every object and every person. I shoot my images as I walk.

I prepare the painting's drawing back in my studio in Colorado, editing and painting digitally. I transfer that drawing onto my canvas and then begin to translate its glowing paths into oil paint.
